Who is Chiedu Ifeozo

Chiedu Ifeozo was born in Lagos in 1982 and his family is originally from Ubulu-uku in Delta state. He completed his secondary school education at Kings College Lagos, and graduated with a master’s degree in Electronics Engineering from the University of Surrey, England. Although a keen Engineer, he has always had an appreciation for the arts, Reading and writing became a passion in his teenage years, drawing inspiration from events in his daily life as well as in his society.
He self-published his first collection of poetry “Thoughts on a page” in 2008, and most of his work follows a spoken word style of writing which focuses mainly on topics such as politics, social commentary, youth empowerment, inspirational poetry and romance. In July 2009, he was the bookaholic blog’s, blogger of the month, and was interviewed for their website. Also in 2009, he was profiled by the arts section of Nigeria’s the guardian newspaper as a fresh voice in contemporary poetry.
That year he began reading his poetry in public for the very first time and went on to perform at various events across Lagos, like Taruwa, Anthill, chill and relax, and freedom hall. In 2010 He edited and printed an anthology titled poetry for charity, that raised funds for various charities and NGO’s . The contributors to the anthology were gathered from many diverse countries using Facebook’s social networking platform. Later that year He was profiled as a young achiever by the Nigerian Tribune newspaper for his work.
In 2010, he wrote and featured in a youtube video for the light up Nigeria campaign, highlighting the need for much need development and improvement of Nigeria’s dilapidated electricity infrastructure. The video featured various well known young Nigerian personalities from diverse fields.
His collection of poetry has been reviewed by next newspaper, where he was tagged as Nigeria’s facebook poet for a new generation. His poems have been featured on the premier website for African contemporary spoken word “Badalisha poetry radio” based in South Africa http://badilishapoetry.com/artists-profile/99/ , “freedom” a poem dedicated to Nelson Mandela was featured on the Kenyan magazine site “Jamati online” http://www.jamati.com/online/books/freedom/ , his work has also been featured in print in the Nigerian poetry digest magazine, and how far(cupids edition) by switchedonnaija.com http://issuu.com/switchedonnaija/docs/howfar_cupids_2009ebook .

He has over 20,000’s views on his youtube page, over 21,000 reads on his scribd.com page and reaches over 11,000 individuals across facebook and twitter. He is currently a member of the review panel for the Bellanaija.com book review section and works as a technical services manager for Modern business machines Nigeria limited, an IT company in Lagos that provides IT consultancy and technical services for many major companies in Nigeria with five branch offices spread across the country.
MBM is a family company that was started 25 years ago and He has managed the affairs of the company in conjunction with his older brother for the past 6 years. He is also on the management board of two other family businesses, Piccadilly suites and conference centre and peacock creations Nigeria limited which are in the in the hospitality sector and industrial tailoring sector respectively. A self-confessed gadget enthusiast, he also collects vintage gadgets and devices. His other interests besides gadget design and literature are football and music.
